On November 9, Cullman broke ground on the new Omniplex Sports and Civic Center, a huge new development part of the growing Sports and Events District. Here’s what you need to know.
The new Omniplex Sports and Civic Center will be a huge, multifunctional facility on a 140-acre property in the growing Cullman Sports and Events district. Here’s what it will include when complete:
- 115,000 square-foot facility
- 10 tournament basketball courts
- 19 volleyball courts
- 5 soccer fields
- 6 indoor pickle ball courts
- Indoor aquatic center
- Space for recreational events
- Catering kitchen
- Breakout meeting rooms
- Gymnasium with capacity for 6,500 people (large enough for concerts, expos, conventions, sporting events + more)
The facility is expected to be complete in late January 2025.
The City of Cullman, Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism Department, CCR Architecture & Interiors, and Jim Cooper Construction Company came together on November 9 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the latest development in Cullman’s recreation scene.
