Children’s of Alabama, ranked among the nation’s top hospitals according to U.S. News and World Report, selects Hueytown to house its new practice Pediatrics West Hueytown. Boasting five board certified full time pediatric doctors, and open 6 days a week, the new medical practice will ensure that all children in Hueytown, from newborns to 18 years of age, have access to the best patient care in diagnostic testing technology, medication management and immunization administration, among other health services.
‘We are happy that Pediatrics West Hueytown will improve the quality of life for not only Hueytown but also the surrounding communities,’ stated Mayor Ware. In addition to providing care for children who are sick, have chronic illness or in need of emergency care, pediatric physicians are also essential in caring for the physical, emotional and psychological needs of our children by working directly with families and caregivers.
Hueytown is pleased to welcome the following physicians from Children’s of Alabama, providing health services that will improve the development and overall health and well-being of West Jefferson County children: Dr. Janet Harris, Dr. Hugh Cheek, Dr. Catherine Cotney, Dr. Taylor McClanahan and Dr. Charles Schlappi. ‘We are very excited for the pediatric medical expansion in Hueytown and look forward to being a part of the Children’s of Alabama community,’ said Debbie Kiker, Hueytown Chamber Director.
‘Children’s is very excited to build a practice in Hueytown and to be a part of such a growing
area in Western Jefferson County,’ said Sandy Thurmond, Vice President of Primary Care
Services, Children’s of Alabama. Pediatrics West Hueytown is expected to break ground by the
