Breaking ground at Legacy Prep Middle School

Legacy Prep broke ground for the new 4th-8th grade
middle school.

Legacy Prep was the first charter school to open in Birmingham in 2019 and as their enrollment has grown, so has their need for additional classroom space.  By expanding their facilities at a new location in West End, they will accommodate an additional 300 students as well as provide new opportunities to the neighborhood.

Built in the 1970s, the building that housed the South Park Unit of the Boys and Girls Club was opened personally by A.G. Gaston.  The vibrant renovations designed for this facility will honor and expand the history of community support.

The new campus will include a 1,634-square-foot open structure common area. It will also house 16 classroom modules and a new Career Exploration Center.
