McLeod software is a transportation management and trucking software company that serves more than 950 customers across North America. With headquarters located in Birmingham, but spread across 2 locations, McLeod purchased a new building to bring all their employees under one roof while providing space for future growth.
The company reworked approximately 80,000 square feet into corporate headquarters, transforming a multi-tenant building into one space uniquely designed to showcase McLeod's brand identity and culture. Since McLeod’s brand is centered around the trucking industry, the inspiration for their new office space came from patterns and colors found in 18-wheeler trucks, roads, and scenery. The tile path into reception and customer training is inspired by tire treads. The reception desk is inspired by the shapes of riveted metal panels and the passing of car lights at night. Every finish material like the black quartz speckled with recycled glass and metal shards, perforated metal and ceiling panels, and yellow carpet stripes, among many others all play into symbolism found on the roads. The color schemes have blue and green accent walls to tie into the surrounding roadway tree and sky scenery. The dark carpet pattern throughout resembles road grids within cities. The green tile and walls in the restrooms provide a relaxing space for a pit stop. The truck wall niches provide a place to showcase McLeod’s customer’s gifts of appreciation and provide unique feature walls in the reception area and the board room.
