A major project that will continue the momentum of Birmingham's Lakeview neighborhood has cleared one regulatory hurdle.
Lakeview Green, a multimillion-dollar mixed-use project planned for the former Davis School property at Fourth Avenue and 29th Street South, received conceptual approval from the Birmingham Design Review Committee on Wednesday, according to AL.com.
The project will add condos, apartments and retail, as well as greenspace, to the Lakeview area, which has seen a surge of development activity in recent years.
It will have 30 condos of two- and three-bedroom floorplans with square footage ranging from 1,200 to 2,100 square feet. Local real estate professionals often have pointed to condo development as the next step in area revitalization, and this will be the first new condo development in the area in years.
Lakeview Green also will contain 73 apartment units of various floor plans.
Birmingham-based CCR is the architect, and Engel Realty will be the property manager. ARC Realty is the broker for condo sales. SRS Real Estate Partners is handling commercial leasing for the development.
The expected completion date for the property, owned by 1904 on 4th LLC, is fall 2018.
